Parade, party and fais do-do with the Krewe of Okeanos

 
We always kick things off with a party! If you’re looking to let the good times roll after this past year, there’s no better place to be than in New Orleans, Louisiana! Head to the Crescent City to celebrate Mardi Gras like royalty with the Krewe of Okeanos by riding in their annual Mardi Gras parade. These spots are limited and by invitation only.

Your spot includes special throws like their signature crawfish tray, five different doubloons, glass beaded necklaces with a metal medallion and, of course, special theme beads and plush throws for 2022.

Friday night before the parade, join the Okeanos at King’s Party on the Avenue. This exclusive party at the House of Broel includes an open bar with top shelf spirits, Mardi Gras inspired eats, and a king cake. This party is also great for parade watching that night.

SMALL BATCH TEXAS STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKEY | 94 PROOF
The relentless Texas heat is brutal. Out here, it’s 100 degrees nine months out of the year; hotter inside a steel barn. It might seem crazy to buy the highest quality barrels and torture them in this heat, but doing so allows our bourbon to suck all the flavor it can from our new American oak barrels. As it matures, the bourbon cycles through the wood’s pores and crevices, soaking in the sugars from the sap, and yielding an aroma brimming of butterscotch, nutmeg, and vanilla. Notes of fruit dominate the palate, with hints of butter, whipped cream, angel food cake and oak. The finish is smooth, with chocolate and espresso notes. A true tour de force of flavor.

HONEYDEW TEXAS HONEY-INFUSED BOURBON | 80 PROOF
Our award-winning Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey, infused with Burleson’s Texas Wildflower Honey, resulting in a smooth, light bourbon with a sweet honey finish. Our Master Distiller transformed used bourbon barrels into small, wooden cubes that were immersed in honey. After fully absorbing it, they were placed in the belly of a stainless-steel tank, letting the bourbon soak up those delicious honey flavors every single day for seven months. Tasting notes of sweet elderberry syrup, yellow-flesh peaches, apricots, white chocolate, and delicious, Golden Texas Honey.

SINGLE BARREL TEXAS STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKEY | 94 PROOF
The embodiment of unique, authentic bourbon and arguably, the Holy Grail of Custom Craftsmanship. Barrels selected for the program are at least four years old – a year older than most early vintages of the Texas Small Batch Bourbon. Every barrel has its own distinct personality and character. That’s the true beauty of Single Barrel. The bourbon has a beautiful, dark copper color and long legs. The nose is more pronounced and delivers butterscotch, oak, vanilla, and nutmeg. This creates a warm and inviting environment, but it’s the sweet oak flavor that really drives the taste.

GUADALUPE TEXAS STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKEY FINISHED IN A PORT CASK | 107 PROOF
Port is a sweet wine with flavors of raspberry, blackberry, caramel, cinnamon, and chocolate sauce. Older, fine Tawny Ports have an even wider array of subtle flavors, including graphite, green peppercorn, hazelnut, almond, butterscotch, and graham cracker. Naturally, these flavor characteristics have great appeal to a bourbon maker. What a tremendous accent such sweet spices might bring to a creamy, buttery straight bourbon whiskey. We would not be denied this bourbon. So Donnis began importing tawny port barrels from Portugal about the same time the original Estacado was released. He was enamored with what the super wet port casks did to the finish of our bourbon. Port wine is typically richer, sweeter, heavier, and higher in alcohol content. Most would say the same thing about Garrison Brothers bourbon. Donnis discovered that the magic maturation combination was four years in white American oak casks and then two additional years in the tawny port casks. He selected 90 thirty-gallon bourbon barrels that had been originally filled in 2015. The Angel’s share losses were about 13 gallons per barrel, meaning there were just 1,530 gallons of bourbon to be used. This liquid was entered into twenty-six 59 gallon port casks in 2019 and is arguably the best bourbon we’ve ever made.

BALMORHEA TWICE-BARRELED BOURBON WHISKEY | 115 PROOF
This magnificent Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey is bold but majestically-crafted, having been aged four years in new American white oak barrels, then transferred to a second new American white oak barrel, and aged for one year. Simply put, this 2-time US Micro Whisky of the Year and San Francisco Double Gold winner is bourbon candy in a bottle. Tasting notes of bourbon candy: frozen fudgesicle bars, amaretto coffee, sticky buns, and pecan brittle, thick, white chocolate syrup.

2021 COWBOY BOURBON UNCUT & UNFILTERED STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKEY | 131.3 PROOF
It takes a special barrel to create a bourbon nectar sweet enough to be enjoyed at such a high proof. The potency normally overpowers the flavor. This ain’t the case with Cowboy Bourbon – it’s so sweet, the flavor overpowers its proof. And you can thank the Texas heat for that. But as delicious as it all sounds, make sure you proceed with caution; barrel-proof bourbon is not for everyone. It should always be savored in moderation. For something strong enough to run a car engine, the finish is incredibly smooth. While surprising, maybe it ought not be, as that restraint makes it ideal for summertime drinking. This stuff was heat-forged in Texas, after all.

LAGUNA MADRE LIMOUSIN OAK-IMMERSED STRAIGHT BOURBON | 101 PROOF
These French barrels are true works of art – highly sought-after, allocated, and incredibly expensive to boot Toasting this majestic oak activates unforgettable flavors of woody vanilla, sweet candy cacao and thick, white chocolate that you won’t soon forget. The creamy finish of this bourbon is both sensuous and aromatic, like the endorphin-fueled natural high one feels in one’s soul while spending a beautiful day away from all the daily stresses life has to offer … perhaps under early afternoon sunlight, on the first day of spring, when the Laguna Madre shines forth like an azure band of aquamarine beckoning all to come out and play.
